By Rick O'Neal
Pearl Izumi consistently makes the most comfortable and stylish biking shorts. The only negative I can think of is that the waist tie is a little bulky and is hard to control. Sometimes looks like an unsightly bulge at the waist.

I needed a pair of shorts for casual biking, and these certainly fit the bill. I've put on a bunch of weight, and need to work some of it off before I can get back into my proper road bike kit!
I currently run a 38 inch waist, so I ordered the XL. The sizes run a bit large, in my opinion. The shorts are wearable, but feel too loose. Also, the waist string closure confounds me. No matter what I do or how I tie it, it won't lay properly and look right.
However, the outer shorts are well made, and very comfortable. I don't think much of the liners, though. The liners are removable, and after wearing the liners once, I have no intention of wearing them again. The chamois didn't agree with my sensitive parts - not shaped well or something. Uncomfortable. I definately have better shorts I can wear underneath.
The outer shorts are excellent - lightweight and comfortable. As the weight comes off, I plan on taking in the seams so I can keep wearing them!

You just can't skimp on the price up front. Each time I buy and use Pearl Izumi, I am never disappointed. They are designed to fit and go the distance.
