Product Description
Cycling in the cold and wet is so much more difficult than, say, running in cold and wet. Not only are you getting wet from falling rain, but the mechanics of riding a bike means you're suffering from wheel spray: yours, your buddy's and from the passing cars. Add some near freezing temperatures and you have one rugged -- or unfun -- ride to get through. A quality rain jacket is important, but what about serious protection for your legs and bum? The Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Softshell Cycling Bib Tights have been created to give you the ultimate in lower-body protection from the worst a wet and cold winter can throw at you. This is possible because Pearl Izumi has engineered these bib tights around what they're calling their Aluminum thermo-regulating laminate softshell. Adding the aluminum element to the three-layered P.R.O. Softshell fabric makes this material not only well insulated, but it also offers amazingly effective waterproof protection while still remaining breathable and supple. Included in the mix are layers with the P.R.O. Transfer fabric with Minerale, as well as the P.R.O. Thermal fabric. The former sits closest to the skin working to wick all sweat and moisture buildup away from the body, while the latter is Pearl Izumi's best fabric for providing breathable insulation. But more impressive than the protection against inclement weather that these bib tights can offer, is how well they fit. The bib straps are easily adjustable so that you can slacken the fit when you're driving in the car to a race or training ride, but then tighten up again to offer a sufficiently snug fit once your ride kicks off. The suppleness of the softshell fabric means that you'll never feel like you've been sealed in a tin can for the ride; no painful tugging or pressure at the knee with every pedal stroke. And the stirrups at your feet will ensure that there will be zero slippage up your leg.

NOT waterproof
By Eric from Phila.
Extremely disappointing. The material for much of the legs is waterproof but the construction is not - the seams are just stitched and leak like crazy - and the area behind the knees and the color panels along the thighs are not waterproof material so they leak instantly in heavy rain. The material is backed by a mesh rather than fleece so always feels kind of cold and clammy. Fit and design are very nice. Bottom line - ok for road spray and very light rain but fails pretty quickly in light rain. PS - since they do not breathe they get very hot above 50' but since not lined are not warm enough below 35' so pretty narrow comfort range as well.

great fit
By rtgymnast
This bib is great for morning rides when the temp reaches 40s. I find it to fit true to size. I weigh 135lbs and measure 5'7".
I particularly like the material. I have yet to try it on a rainy day.

I want to love the bibs but I can't
By Craig
Pros
-The fit is good
-Warm by itself but very warm with other layers
-The white bibs actually clean up well
-Super comfortable and quality materials on par with other Izumi products
Cons
-While riding in any position the suspenders for the bibs will be slack
-The legs are quite long and give you plenty of slack at the knees
-Temperatures below 35-40 degrees Farenheit, the bibs aren't enough to keep you warm
The deal breaker....
The metal brackets for the suspenders broke. The right shoulder bracket broke while dressing. I checked the left shoulder and the bracket looks strained and weak. The left shoulder broke later on.
If you plan for the brackets breaking and have materials ready, these are a grat set of bibs. Again, I want to love these bibs but I can't
Updated 12/3/2012
Sent the bibs in and Pearl upheld their replacement warranty. The brackets were replaced with some heavy gauge metal brackets. Beefy! Love the bibs!
